大きな数・桁の読み方、書き方

桁：数の単位一覧

• 英語は3桁ごとに単位の句切りがある
  「千、万、10万」がhundred、「100万、1000万、1億」がmillion～
  日本は「万、10万、100万、1000万」と4桁区切り。
• hundred、thousand～は単位なので、数がいくつでも複数形にしない。
• ｢hundred｣ は100の単位の他に、各桁の単位でも使用する。
  1000以降は、 ｢one｣ ｢ten｣ ｢one handred｣ ＋ 単位 がセットになっている。

• one の代わりに a を使う場合も多い。
  one thousand は a thousand
• 以下のような表現をする場合は、単位に複数形を使う。
  例) 何百万年もの間
  for millions of years

数の読み方と、アルファベット表記のルール

• ｢hundred｣ がある場合、後ろに ｢and｣ を入れて読む。
  ただし｢hundred｣ の次の2桁がゼロのときは入れない。
  ｢and｣ は省略されることも多い。
  
• アルファベット表記の場合、｢hundred｣より大きな桁があるときは「，(カンマ)」を入れるて区切る。

1～6桁の例 (基数)

• 222は ｢hundred｣ の次に数があるので、後ろに｢and｣ を入れる。
• 2,222は ｢hundred｣ の次に大きな単位 ｢thousand｣ がつくため、カンマを入れる。
• 222,222は ｢hundred｣が2か所あるので、それぞれの後ろに｢and｣を入れる。

下の桁がゼロのときの例 (6桁の基数)

桁の途中にゼロがあるときの例 (6桁の基数)

• どちらも ｢hundred｣の後ろに数字があると ｢and｣がつく、前に数字があるとカンマがつくルールは同じ。
• 202,000 は｢hundred｣の後ろに数があるので、｢and｣がつく。
• 200,200は｢hundred｣の後ろに数がないので、｢and｣がつかない。
  ｢hundred｣より大きな桁があるので、カンマをつける。
• 200,020は｢hundred thousand｣とあるので、｢hundred｣ありとみなして後に｢and｣を入れる。途中ゼロがいくつ入っていても、直前に｢hundred｣があれば｢and｣が入る。
  百の単位の｢hundred｣がないため、｢thousand｣の後ろにはカンマがつかない。
  

※カンマは正確には｢hundred｣ではなく、｢thousand｣などの次に大きな単位の後ろにつくのですが、うしろに｢hundred｣が無ければカンマがつかないので (200,020を参照)、｢hundred｣とセットで考えた方が分かりやすいです。
